Dog Day Afternoons

Yesterday was National Dog Day, which got me thinking about how important our pets are in our lives. As the saying goes, they truly leave pawprints on our hearts. My dogs are always happy to see me when I get home. My cat is always there with the pack to greet me. They are loyal beyond measure, and make my heart smile. This quick post is to honor the bond we share with animals.

There are so many great cards out there that celebrate pets, and the funny things they do, not to mention the quirky things we do as pet owners! Why not send a card to your vet, just to say thanks for taking great care of your pal, or leave a special note for your dogwalker or petsitter in honor of National Dog Day. La Familia Green, conceived in Spring 2005 by painter/printmaker/paperlover Mollie Green, represents an eclectic assortment of interests and ideas. The aesthetic is Mexican folk art meets Scandinavian design meets wildlife preserve … West Texas meets the Midwest. Many of her designs stem from her love of her dogs. My favorite is her card to welcome a new baby, and promises not compare them to her pets. I can totally relate. Another favorite is by Cindy of Cynla Designs. Her illustrations are both hand drawn, painted with watercolor, and colored digitally. She hand letters everything and her designs are influenced by her half-Japanese culture, nature, & travels. Her card” let’s get together and talk about our pets” is a great card to send for any reason to a pet lover!
